A taste of Pedersgata

GuideCompaniet takes you on a culinary food walk through Pedersgata, where you can taste small dishes from several corners of the world while hearing stories from this vibrant neighbourhood.

Restaurant critic Arild I. Olsson described Pedersgata to Aftenbladet, the region’s largest newspaper, as “one of Norway’s coolest streets when it comes to food.” Now you can experience the flavours yourself in Stavanger’s new dining hotspot.

Practical information

The tour includes a guide and small dishes. Drinks are not included, but can be purchased separately. Some dishes are enjoyed standing, others seated. The tour requires a minimum of 6 participants. If cancelled, the full amount will be refunded.

If you are interested in a tailored food walk can contact GuideCompaniet at post@guidecompaniet.no.

From the City’s Backyard to a Hipster Paradise

Join GuideCompaniet on a guided walk through one of Stavanger’s older neighbourhoods. Hear stories from the past and see how the area has developed over time.

Pedersgata was once Stavanger’s working-class district, where low social status, social challenges and the heat from the many canning factories were, believe it or not, among the area’s defining characteristics.

Today, houses with outdoor toilets are being replaced by modern apartments, while new restaurants and pubs are popping up in the area where Ajax’s Miss Sørensen once lived in her modest apartment.

At the heart of this neighbourhood is “Pedersgadå”, the city’s new food mecca.

Join GuideCompaniet on a walk to Myllå, Nytorvet, Blåsenborg, Jammerdalen and Dokksmauet and listen to the history.
